Just last Friday we were treated with knowledge of a release date for Mikael Hafstrom’s exorcism yarn THE RITE, learning it’ll welcome in the new year on January 28th. Now, thanks to cool Italian site Bad Taste, the first crop of production stills from the flick have surfaced. They don’t really add up to a whole lot at this stage of the game, but feel free to check ’em out below!

THE RITE centers on a disillusioned American seminary student who attends exorcism school at the Vatican and ultimately finds his faith through encounters with demonic forces. Hopkins will play a priest who is an expert in exorcisms and whose methods are not necessarily traditional.
Damn I love the idea of Hopkins playing a priest with the skill to exorcise demons. And with Rutger Hauer and my girl Alice Braga at his side…this has to be one of the early 2011 must-sees around these parts. You’re feelin’ it, right?
As alluded to, the pics below aren’t overly exciting, but at least you can get a feel for how big the size of the production is, what kind of location and buildings Hafstrom looks to use, etc. Oh, and there’s a blonde in a blue tank top packing some serious yard-work. That I do appreciate!
