Relativity Media has purchased SKYLINE, the alien-invasion thriller from ALIEN VS. PREDATOR: REQUIEM directors Greg and Colin Strause. Apparently Brett Ratner (commence eye-rolling) brought the film to the company, which is now working out distribution plans. The movie was self-financed by the Strause boys – one has to wonder if they wanted to prove their mettle after the universally loathed AVP:R.

SKYLINE stars Brittany Daniel, Eric Balfour, Crystal Reed, Scottie Thompson, Donald Faison, David Zayas, Neil Hopkins, Kevin O’Donnell, and Phet Mahathongdy.

After a late night party, a group of friends are awoken in the dead of the night by an eerie light beaming through the window. Like moths to a flame, the light source is drawing people outside before they suddenly vanish into the air. They soon discover an otherwordly force is swallowing the entire human population off the face of the earth. Now our band of survivors must fight for their lives as the world unravels around them.

Should be interesting to see if this reaches theaters before THE DARKEST HOUR, which has a similar evil extraterrestrial premise. Of course, you’ve also got BATTLE: LOS ANGELES… After all these alien invasion movies, we’d better be prepared for the real thing if (when) it happens.
