
Fabrice du Welz, the director behind VINYAN and CALVAIRE, is planning a road movie based on the true story of 1940s serial killers Martha Beck and Raymond Fernandez. Producer Michael Gentile’s company The Film will produce
Titled ALLELUIA, the film will document the horrifying real-life “lonely hearts” murders the duo committed, which involved scamming lonely widows for their savings. The two were believed to have killed up to 20 women, and both were executed in 1951. Beatrice Dalle (INSIDE; pictured right) Bouli Lanners and Virginie Efira have been cast. du Welz will begin shooting in early 2011.
The case of the two twisted lovers has been dramatized before, most notably in 1970’s minor classic THE HONEYMOON KILLERS. More recently, it was told in the 2006 film LONELY HEARTS, with Salma Hayek (pictured below) portraying Beck and Jared Leto playing Fernandez.
