With the Cannes Film Festival in full swing, we can expect lots of big news coming out of France this week and next. And let’s kick it off with a doozy: Dario Argento will be directing DRACULA early next year!

The scoop comes from FrightFest organizer and journalist Alan Jones, who posted the following on his Twitter page: Just announced, Dario Argento’s DRACULA in 3D, filming in Italy January, period setting.

Here in the states, we’re still waiting to get a look at Argento’s GIALLO, which supposedly eats butt, but is probably still worth a glance. I’d really love to see the director’s inevitably bizarre take on the classic Dracula tale, so count me in. Granted, it will be hard for Argento to top the absolute senseless insanity of MOTHER OF TEARS, but he should at least give it a try…

Hopefully we’ll get more info on this real soon.
