Hayden Christensen to headline David R. Ellis’ Genesis Code

Uh oh, David R. Ellis is back at it!

That’s right folks, the stunt-man turned director of such glorious failures as CELLULAR and SNAKES ON A PLANE is back on the schlock horse with a new thriller entitled GENESIS CODE. Not only that, it appears Ellis may have found his leading man!

But let’s not jump the gun, gang. I mean, surely a flick called GENESIS CODE must star the likes of Chucky Norris or Steve “that poor girl was just helping me unzip my fly” Seagal, right? Van Damme at the very least, right? How can it not?

Sadly, such ain’t the case. According to an official press release from Myriad Pictures, Hayden Christensen has locked the lead in the film. That’d be Anakin Cloudhumper to all you STAR WARS whores.

Adapted from John Case’s novel by Kevin Bernhardt, GENESIS CODE:

Follows a former national security expert, played by Christensen, who, while investigating the murder of his only sister and her young son, discovers that a religious sect called The Shadow of the Cross may be involved. With the help of his sister’s friend Ana, they follow the clues to a clinic in the mountains of Italy, where a terrifying secret experiment has been conducted – successfully. The results are so threatening to the foundation of the Church that they will do anything to keep it from being revealed.

Uh, I hear the word Church and I’m scared, so this bastard has already has me.

About the project, Myriad’s CEO and President Kirk D’Amico had this to say:

“We are very pleased to have Hayden on board for this project. His passion for the character of Joe Lassiter and the world he inhabits – of religion, politics and secret operatives – was apparent to all of us involved in the project. It is this kind of commitment that we know will lead to a compelling performance.”

Give it up y’all, you think this is a suitable project for Christensen? You think R. Ellis can redeem himself after one paltry flick after another?
