THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE is hitting theaters everywhere June 30, 2010, but if you want to see it early, and I mean just 6 days early, you now have a chance… at the LA Film Festival.
Is it odd to show a film like ECLIPSE at a film festival? Yes. But they’re not shy about doing it for landing more butts in seats and milking the Twihard fans out there for extra cash. Rebecca Yeldham, the festival director, told the LA Times: If we program a movie like ‘Twilight’ that draws audiences that might not otherwise attend film festivals, hopefully we’ll expose them to other cinematic experiences that we think are inspiring.
This may be true, but she left out the best part: Only those festival-goers who purchase one of the top-level passes — which range in cost from $500 to $1,000 — will get inside the Nokia Theatre on June 24.
I hope there’s a rush of fans out there with money to burn to see ECLIPSE a few days earlier than their friends. Mostly because then, the joke would be on them, and I would find that to be hilarious. $1,000 for a movie? Are they insane? Oh wait, we’re talking Twiheads here, so yes… yes they are.
To pimp out ECLIPSE’s presence at the fest, they were dope enough to release a new image of Belle and Edward getting ready to play hide the salami. Yay…..
