Damn, has it really been three months to the day since our last BLACK DEATH article? F*ck me!

Good thing then, that after such a wait, we’ve got something substantial from the flick to get down with. Of course, I’m talking about the official trailer for Christopher Smith’s bleak medieval plague picture, starring Sean Bean. Got your vaccines and antidotes ready? No? Then prepare for infection below!

Written by Dario Poloni (WILDERNESS), BLACK DEATH shapes up when:

Medieval England has fallen under the shadow of the Black Death, a young monk called Osmund is charged in leading a fearsome knight, Ulric and his group of mercenaries to a remote marsh. Their quest is to hunt down a necromancer – someone able to bring the dead back to life. Torn between his love of God and the love of a young woman, Osmund discovers the necromancer, a mysterious beauty called Langiva. After Langiva reveals her Satanic identity and offers Osmund his heart’s desire, the horror of his real journey begins.

Hell yeah, that rundown never ceases to impress. As far as period piece horror goes, this is one of imminent release I’m actually whole heartedly backing. How about y’all?

Aside from the Bean, BLACK DEATH stars Kimberley Nixon, Eddie Redmayne, Carice van Houten (below), David Warner, Andy Nyman, Tim McInnerny, John Lynch, Johnny Harris, Marianne Graffam and Emun Elliot.

A giant shout to Twitch for the break!

Catch BLACK DEATH when it opens in the U.K. May 28th.
