Hideo Nakata is breaking away from the J-horror mold a little bit with CHATROOM, which was recently added to the 2010 Cannes Film Festival line-up. It’s good to see that the director is trying out new things, at least from my perspective; I just know him as the guy who does RING movies to be quite honest (a couple of them are pretty bad too). This flick, with an all British cast, is a step in a more intriguing direction for the man.

Chatroom is a contemporary tale of disenchanted youths who meet online. What begins as harmless fun turns into a deadly game of cat and mouse that crosses over into the offline world.

Wildgrounds has scrounged up a few new pictures, which can be seen below. Looking kind of trippy, which I like. CHATROOM stars Aaron Johnson, Imogen Poots, Matthew Beard, Hannah Murray and Daniel Kaluuya.
