Last month I gave you a brief update on the progress of DEAD@17, which seems to have found a director in the form of LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT’s Dennis Iliadis. But does it have a star?
Vanessa Hudgens has been rumored for quite a while to be attached as the protagonist, Nara Kilday. There had not been any solid confirmation that the young actress indeed was a part of the film, but Ms. Hudgens cleared that up once and for all in an interview with MTV, where she confirmed that she has flirted with the project… for a while.
However, it looks as though nothing is really happening on that front. Hudgens tells MTV: “That was a while ago… It was something that came up and never really materialized.”
She’s apparently moved on, but seems willing to maybe jump back into it when it comes up again. Perhaps Iliadis and co. are on the search for a new actress? The dude has a ton of projects in the works right now, including PAY THE GHOST and, maybe, JEKYLL AND HYDE, so my gut is telling me that DEAD@17 is, for the moment, dead to the world.
DEAD@17 tells the story of Nara Kilday, a murdered teenager who is resurrected to prevent the pending Apocalypse and fight demons.
