Any of you happen to catch Conrad Janis’ 2006 grue-gala BAD BLOOD? Did you know a sequel to that flick has been in the works for some time now? No? Well don’t get them panties in a twist, ’cause we’ve got a beefy synopsis and first trailer for BAD BLOOD…THE HUNGER underneath!
Penned by Janis’ wife and actress Maria Grimm (BAD BLOOD, MANEATER), …THE HUNGER is set during A vacation road trip to Lake Tahoe, as nine unassuming college kids stumble into the den of a night-stalking secret clan who herd them into a mysterious enclave. Now deep into the woods and cut off from the modern world, the young collegians are forced to trust the mom and pop leaders of the clan – Millie (three-time Academy Award Nominee Piper Laurie), the menacing matriarch of the village, and Lawrence (Conrad Janis), it’s smiling but sinister patriarch. But when the sect’s deadly rituals becomes the stuff of horror and their friends start to disappear into the night, the remaining kids are forced to run for their lives as these two worlds collide.
Based on actual events of the film’s screenwriter Maria Janis while in Casablanca, Morocco, Bad Blood… The Hunger is the first in a trilogy of future/retro chillers that will make anyone question where their next meat course came from.
You know, I always tend to be a little more lenient on horror flicks, or any flick for that matter, that boasts the old “based on true events” frill. That is, until I realized such a statement has been merely adopted for marketing purposes. Not to say I’m completely jaded by any flick claiming to be based on real life occurrences, but I seriously wonder how much of BAD BLOOD….THE HUNGER pulled from shite that actually went down. Wonder if we’ll ever know.
Aside from Piper Laurie (who seems criminally over-experienced for such a film), the film stars Alonso Freeman, Rachelle Wood (below), Steven Christopher Parker, Matthew Ashford, Jilon Ghai, Chuck Hittinger, Sita Young, David Thomas Jenkins and Amy Miller.
No release date is known so far.
