Gattaca director Andrew Niccol sets up new sci-fi flick I’m Mortal

It’s been eight years since Andrew Niccol (right) last plumbed the depths of cinematic science-fiction (S1M0NE), and thirteen since his masterful feature debut GATTACA. In the interim, the man joined forces with Nic Cage to bring us LORD OF WAR, but that was a good five years ago. So what the hell’s the dude been up to? With New Regency and Strike Entertainment in line to distribute and produce, I’M MORTAL will be set in the not-too-distant future where the aging gene has been switched off. To avoid overpopulation, time has become the currency and the way people pay for luxuries and necessities. The rich can live forever, while the rest try to negotiate for their immortality.
