Riddick 3’s title and story revealed!

It sounds like a “Tales from the Crypt” episode title, but Corona Coming Attractions is reporting that the third film in the Riddick series will be called THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK: DEAD MAN STALKING. At least, that’s what it reads on the cover page for the script, which they got their hands on and reviewed.

What’s most obvious when reading their round-up of the screenplay is that David Twohy has scaled back the epic grandeur of the second film and put Riddick back in PITCH BLACK territory. In other words, a leaner, meaner movie that positions Riddick more as an anti-hero again. The site reports that it’s a “hard R script — it’s full of death action and peppered with nasty, filthy language” which is nice to hear after the PG-13ness of the last one.

In terms of plot, it would seem as though Riddick doesn’t really want to be ruler of the Necromonger army, instead engaging his right-hand man Vaako (Karl Urban) to help him return to his home planet of Furya. Apparently, that’s just the jumping off point of the story, which has Riddick squaring off against the planets indigenous creatures as well as a group of mercenaries that are hunting him.

It definitely sounds pretty cool, and if you want more details, head on over to Coming Attractions to get a little more in-depth.
