If you just can’t wait for the summer re-release (or you know, if you don’t want to see it an 80th time in the theaters this time around), then you Avatards have some good news coming your way: the biggest film in box office history has finally snagged a DVD/Blu-Ray release date: APRIL 22nd.

That’s actually just the North American release date, but it will be hitting all other territories roughly the same time – countries like France, Belgium and Spain get it a day early on the 21st, while Japan, Germany, Switzerland and Mexico have to wait until the 23rd. Poor old Italy doesn’t receive its copies until May 6th, but that’s the last country on the list – then we’ll be globally united; an AVATAR in every home.

There are no tech specs available, but James Cameron has been pretty up front saying that this will be a bare-bones edition, with the special super ultimate unrated deluxe director’s cut (in 3D??) coming later in the year, most likely just in time for the holidays. (What better time to watch that cut sex scene!)

Zoe Saldana sez “Buy my movie, bitch!”
