Roadside hotels are scary places in general, as seen in such classic horror flicks as PSYCHO, VACANCY, MOTEL HELL, and on and on. And guess what? This year’s SXSW Film Festival is gonna feature another flick to add to the scary hotel genre: WAKE!
The boys at Bloody-D scored a few new pics from the film, and if you like dudes with their shirts off, you’re gonna love these! So wait… what’s WAKE all about? Check it: Driving to a wedding in Los Angeles through the Mojave Desert, Paul and Adrienne pull off the highway and into Roys Motel and Café. This roadside artifact proves to be a strange and surreal place with an unsettling mix of travelers, who force our couple to discover the secret hidden between them and ultimately, the horrifying reality of their current situation.
The flick stars Josh Stewart and Jamie-Lynn Sigler, and is directed by Chad Freehan. I’ll give most creepy hotel movies a chance, mostly because they’re usually so damn easy to pull off, so I’ll be giving this one a look for sure… hopefully we’ll get a chance to see if if all goes well at SXSW.
