I recently got a scoop (and I’m obviously not the only one, as the news has spread like wildfire) that Sean Hood has been given the task of rewriting the CONAN script. CONAN is on the fast-track, eying a March 15 start date, so Hood will have to get to scribbling, pronto. Hood most likely got the gig because he also recently wrote HERCULES for CONAN’s producers, Joe Gatta and Boaz Davidson at Millennium Films. That project is still looking for a director.
Hood is fortuitously already familiar with CONAN director Marcus Nispel. The writer penned a horror film called SUBTERRANEAN for the FRIDAY THE 13th director; that project may get moving after CONAN is completed. Jason Momoa stars as Conan, and the first draft was written by Joshua Oppenheimer and Thomas Dean Donnelly (SAHARA).
For those unfamiliar with the name, Sean Hood is a veteran in the genre game. The scribe worked on such films as HALLOWEEN: RESURRECTION, CUBE 2 and THE CROW: WICKED PRAYER. He also penned episodes of “Masters of Horror” and “Fear Itself”.
