According to Spec Chaser (an interesting site listing the spec scripts that are selling around town), Peter Markle has sold IMMERSION for an undetermined sum. Brian Gilbert & Andrew Trapani of Nine/8 Entertainment are attached to produce. Markle will also helm the film, although no start date is yet known.

Markle is a veteran television director who has worked on shows like “X-Files”, “Without a Trace”, and “CSI”. He also directed the 1988 Gene Hackman action film BAT*21. Here’s what his IMMERSION is all about: A group of hardcore juvenile delinquents set to be tried as adults are granted a last chance at redemption. Venturing into the wilderness to participate in a brutal wilderness survival program, the teens encounter something far more horrifying than the mean streets they left behind.

This actually reminds me a lot of a 2006 flick from the U.K. called WILDERNESS, directed by SOLOMON KANE‘s Michael J. Bassett; it’s a pretty decent little movie that deserves a look (that’s a still from it above). We’ll let you know how IMMERSION progresses when we hear more…
