Looks like the Italians are getting into the 3D craze just as much as we Yanks are, as they’re gearing up not one but two 3D horror pictures this year.

The newly announced HIDDEN, which will cost a reported $7.3 million is an Italy-Canada co-production (to be filmed in in English) about an abandoned experimental medical centre that harbours a deadly secret that only becomes known when a restoration project begins.

Andrea Marotti is producing for ReDark with Andre Rouleau for Montreal-based Caramel Films. Don Carmody (CHICAGO) is executive producing.

Canada is providing 80% of the financing and the film has the support of Telefilm Canada. According to the Bloody Disgusting clan, Coralina Cataldi-Tassoni (a frequent Argento collaborator) is lined up to star.

What’s curious is that Screen Daily is calling this the “first Italian 3D picture”, although just last week it was announced that the country would be embarking on TURN OF THE SCREW in the format. Let the Obscure Italian Horror Movies in 3D war begin!
