Wes Craven confirmed that he’s officially on board to direct SCREAM 4, which begins shooting in May, in an interesting, albeit brief, profile article on him over at the L.A. Times. It’s a very small blurb, but it confirms what we’ve been speculating about for months now. Of course, I’m sure most of us assumed it was a sure thing in the first place, but still…

The article, written in preparation for a double bill of LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT and THE HILLS HAVE EYES in Santa Monica California tomorrow (which he’ll be hosting), focuses on Craven’s introduction to filmmaking on LAST HOUSE, and how that’s led to a nearly 40-year-long career in horror.

As for how he wants to end his career? Why, morbidly of course. “My goal is to die in my 90s on the set, say, ‘That’s a wrap,’ after the last shot, fall over dead and have the grips go out and raise a beer to me.”
