From Left to Right: Janette Armand, Kevin Hamedani, Cooper Hopkins, Doug Fahl, Victoria Drake, Sydney Sweeney, Ali Hamedani
So I was lucky enough to be invited to the premiere of Kevin Hamedani’s ZMD: ZOMBIES OF MASS DESTRUCTION, one of 8 Films to Die For in the 2010 After Dark Horrorfest. F*ckin’ groovy, right? You’re damn skippy!
As I arrived at the lush Beverly Center in Beverly Hills, California – I was instantly ushered into the festivities, meeting two hot hostesses of sorts, decked in ravaged zombie garb, white makeup, bloodshot eyes, fake blood smeared over their pretty little faces. I felt like I belonged! So I throw my name in a raffle the studio has assembled, cop a free sticker and a keychain beer opener…ya know, there’s always time for the finer things in life.

A half hour before screening time the stars of the flick began to swarm in. I whipped out my trusty camera, got close, and took more f*ckin’ shots than Amy Winehouse on a hard-bender. As you can see below, director Kevin Hamedani was present, as were actors Janette Arnand, Doug Fahl, Cooper Hopkins, Victoria Drake and Sydney Sweeney. Of course, I couldn’t help myself, so shots of those delectable dead chicks I met earlier in the night were also taken (shoot, they were already on the red carpet!)
Ten o’clock. Screening time. We all mashed into the theater, had a good time during the 90 or so minutes the film took to complete. Afterwards, Hamedani had a few words to speak, notably thanking his pops for acting in his film for the first time since high-school. Good shit. Then the raffle names were announced, unfortunate for me, I was not one of the chosen few to receive a cool autographed poster of the film signed by all the actors present. Oh well, I still got the beer opener and pics of the dead hotties!

Midnight approaches. Clearly spent, most people disband and go their separate ways. Promised a free drink after the film if shown the exclusive VIP wristband, you know I’m skulking around like Nic Cage in Leaving Las Vegas. Alas, no such drink was awarded. Instead a few of us shot the breeze for a few minutes in the lobby before calling it a night.
Naturally, I was on to scouting Hollywood hookers.
A good night at that!
