Since stabbing y’all with some gore sodden stills from Yannick Dahan and Benjamin Rocher’s post-apocalyptic zombie effort THE HORDE three weeks back, word around town is the flick has undergone some last minute surgery. That’s right folks, turns out French distributor Le Pacte re-cut the opening ten minutes of the film, doing so less than a month before its set to play on some 200 screens come February 10th (B-D).
Re-cutting this late in the game is always cause for concern, but hey, at least we’ve got a few more stills to admire before IFC airs the damn thing sometime this year. I mean, just because the distributor deems the first part of the film re-workable, it doesn’t mean we can’t get down with shots of grue stained flesh, blood dripping pick-axes, and a dude marauding a huge cabal of zombies with large ass machete. Shit, you can rework the first half hour for all I care, just so long as we end up where we need to be. Dig it?!?
Starring Eriq Ebouaney, Jo Prestia, Aurelien Recoing, Jean-Pierre Martins and Claude Perron – THE HORDE finds:
A posse of crooked cops, malevolent gangsters and a horde of walking dead the centre point of this gruesome, tight, action packed, claustrophobic tale of retribution and escape. Penned like animals, on the top floor of a deserted high-rise block, these two opposing gangs find that they are not alone in the lair of bloodthirsty corridors of death. Joining forces to survive, they must reach ground level together or perish. Loaded with a bad ass attitude, guns, axes and extremely creative hand-to-hand combat sequences that project the fears and paranoia that are the fighting forces behind the need to survive, when caught up in the wrong place at the wrong time.
