Sing with me: Lore of the campfire, telling of his horror; lost in the woods with the Madman and the stars!

If that means nothing to you, then you don’t know MADMAN. (And I don’t want to know you.) The seemingly forgotten 1982 slasher “classic” about a disfigured hillbilly cutting up some counselors at a camp won’t win any points for originality, but it does its business well, and has been a favorite of mine for a while. Want bloody deaths, gloomy atmosphere, sweet keyboard music, and hot 80s lovemakin’? MADMAN is for you.

It’s been out of print for many years now, but thanks to Code Red, it’s getting a new life. It was announced today that the company is planning on reissuing the Joe Giannone-directed flick, although special features are hazy right now. (Speculation is that a commentary made for the original Anchor Bay release featuring Giannone and actors Tony Fish and Paul Ehlers will make the transition.)

To see TP’s hot tub scene in crystal clear quality would be a dream come true…
