I honestly have no idea what the hell I’m looking at here, but apparently people who know GANTZ will think it’s cool. But wait… WTF is GANTZ?
GANTZ is a Japanese manga about a a teenager named Kei Kurono who dies in a train accident and becomes part of a semi-posthumous “game” in which he and several other recently deceased people are forced to hunt down and kill aliens. The missions they embark upon are dangerous. Many die on most missions, but are usually replaced in the same manner as Kei Kurono’s appearance.
The comic spawned a successful animated series, novels, and is now set to be two live-action films. The teaser below hit the web recently; it doesn’t show a whole lot, but if you watch it up close, you might start having a seizure. Not sure if that’s your thing or not.
The plan is to release the two features in the winter and spring of 2011. They star Kazunari Ninomiya and Ken’ichi Matsuyama (huge stars in their native Japan) and will be directed by Shinsuke Sato.
