Another day, another comic I’ve never heard of is getting adapted for the big screen. This time it’s the forgotten (yes, it’s supposed to be all lower-case letters), a pulpy noir with a supernatural twist written by Evan Young and Jareth Grealish originally as a black-and-white four-issue comic book in 2002 and then as a 128-page graphic novel in 2003.
Earlier this year, producers Don Murphy and Susan Montford of Angryfilms and Claire Polstein and John Wells of John Wells Productions had picked up the option to produce the film – it had stalled for a while, but now it’s back in action, with scribe John Rogers working on the screenplay.
According to the book’s official site: ‘The forgotten’ is a mystery based in Philadelphia that centers around the unsolved murder of an exotic dancer, and the enigmatic man investigating her death… A man with the ability to reach out with his own mind to anyone he sees, anyone he meets, anyone on the street — and make them forget about him completely.
‘The forgotten’ combines elements of the supernatural and the superheroic and will appeal to fans of crime noir fiction.
