Savage County trailer

It seems that in the wake of such successful horror cable TV shows as “Dexter” and “True Blood,” TV studios are much more receptive to grisly material than in the past. And driving that point home is an upcoming MTV series called “Savage County,” about a group of small town Texas high school kids who play a prank that accidentally kills an old man, and then become hunted down by the man’s family of murderous hillbillies.

Nice! Judging by the trailer below, we’ve got shades of BULLY and THE HILLS HAVE EYES – which is kinda tits!

With backing from such proven names as Craig Brewer (HUSTLE AND FLOW, BLACK SNAKE MOAN), and David Gale (AEON FLUX, JACKASS) – the project is designed to be viewed on a per episode basis (each of the 8 ten-minute chapters being self contained enough to watch on its own) or in its entirety.

The series boasts an eclectic mix of fresh Hollywood faces with on-location Memphis natives as its cast. Such names include Mimi Michaels (below), Rebekah Graf, Ken Luckey, Doug Haley, Melissa Carnell, Ana Ayora and more.

Take a look below and determine which you’re more excited about – “Savage County” or “My Super Psycho Sweet 16.”

Savage County hits the map in February of 2010.
