FX nabs 2012, Z-Land

Adding to its already impressive resume of such inventive TV series as “The Shield” and “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” The Hollywood Reporter has relayed that FX has just picked up the TV rights to two of the most financially successful horror/sci-fi films of the year.

That’s right folks! On the eve of Roland Emmerich’s staggering $225 million global debut weekend (including $65 million domestically), Sony has struck a deal with the TV network to bring 2012 to the small screen. When? Yep you guessed it, in the year 2012, that’s when!

But FX wasn’t done in reeling in that whale. Oh no. FX also locked the rights to Ruben Fleischer’s box office hit ZOMBIELAND, which looks to air on TV by the end of next year. ZOMBIELAND, which also reaped positive reviews, raked in a cool $73 million domestically  (although rampant downloads have sadly decreased talks of a sequel).

FX adds these titles to an already stunning lineup of STAR TREK, MONSTERS VS ALIENS, X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE & TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN.

I know FX is more lenient on language and graphic violence than most (especially in a leter time slot), but I wonder how the carnage in ZOMBIELAND will be handled on the small screen.  What do you think? Heavily cut or largely left alone?
