I’m not sure how many out there are aware of the Brothers Hanon. There’s Jim Hanon, who’s toiled in dramatic (THE END OF THE SPEAR) and documentary film (BEYOND THE GATES OF SPLENDOR). Then there’s his brother Miles, who not only edited the two aforementioned flicks, but has recently locked his own horror debut in the can, a supernatural flick called THE FAMILIAR.

Is a terrifying story of spiritual manipulation in the life of a lonely gunsmith named Sam. Through his estranged sister-in-law, Laura, who he has not seen since before the death of his wife five years earlier, Sam comes face to face with a very wicked spirit named Rallo. Sam’s attraction to Laura blinds him to the fact that Rallo is taking possession of Laura and is intent on destroying them both. Sam must work through his bitterness and choose what he really believes as he battles for his soul and Laura’s life.

Seriously though, I’m not sure about your background, but anytime a horror flick starts throwing in religious overtones, shit becomes that much more unsettling. This could definitely be worth a watch (no telling when we can, though).
