After it was recently broke that DreamWorks has secured the rights to “Wicked” – a series of books said to be a cross between “TWILIGHT and WANTED with witches” – it appears the well respected film studio is striking further teen-angst iron with an original script they just picked up from Richard Blaney and Gregory Small called SOMEONE IN THE DARK (The Hollywood Reporter).
With writer/director Carlos Brooks at the helm, whose sole prior credit comes via the 2008 thriller QUID PRO QUO, he also looks to levy executive producer responsibilities. Brooks also has a forthcoming directorial effort called BURNING BRIGHT under his belt as well.
SOMEONE IN THE DARK aptly has shrouded details, though is undoubtedly described by the studio as a “teen thriller.” Gavin Polone (ZOMBIELAND) and former DreamWorks employee Marc Haimes are in talks to produce.
Jeesh! Seems these teen horror outings are in it for the long haul. At least it was an “original” screenplay DW picked up, right?
