Raimi on Spidey-4 foes

With the recent news that SPIDER-MAN 4 scribe Gary Ross is set to tackle MATT HELM before sinking his teeth into VENOM, the spin-off villain series to the blockbusting SPIDER-MAN franchise, director Sam Raimi has divulged a bit on the upcoming league of baddies Pete Parker’s alter-ego will face off with.

According to MTV’s Splash Page, while Raimi “loves” the whole Lizard storyline Marvel has concocted, he really isn’t all that familiar with Spidey’s other, perhaps higher profile foe, Carnage.

But regardless of personal favorites, Raimi maintains that Spidey’s villain this go around will be intrinsic to the nature of Peter Parker’s journey as a person. In other words, what ever spiritual or moral hurdle Parker must overcome to better himself, a villain will be aptly born out of that.

If all this sounds a bit nubilous, it’s because Raimi is doing his best to keep tight lipped about the project, at the same time offering some insight. Perhaps he’s pulling all of our legs and knows exactly what type of ass Spidey looks smack-down in 2011.
