Freeway Killer poster

Ah, serial killer bio-pics. Gotta love ’em!

David Birke, writer of such fascinating works as DAHMER and GACY, is reteaming with producer Larry Rattner to bring about FREEWAY KILLER, a film version of real life California serial killer William Bonin.

Directed by John Mulowski (AMITYVILLE: A NEW GENERATION, CONTAGION), FREEWAY KILLER will more or less follow the template of the aforementioned serial killer bio-pics, lending as much straight-forward truth to an already non-fictitious story.

For those who’ve never heard the name William Bonin, here’s a man who raped and killed as many as 36 boys & young men in roughly a one year period from 1979-1980, 14 for which he was convicted and eventually executed. He had many accomplices in such, and shares the moniker of “Freeway Killer” with at least two other serial murderers.

In other words, this guy’s a real piece of work!

The flick stars NFL punter-turned-actor Scott Leet, the always entertaining Michael Rooker (HENRY: PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER), as well as Helen Wilson, James Babson, Cole Williams, Mercy Malick (below), Thomas Curtis, Eileen Dietz, Tyler Neitzel, and Dusty Sorg.

Not sure about you, but I’m super down to check this one out. There’s nothing like a true serial killer story done well, always makes shit that much more unsettling.  Plus, the poster is pretty creepy don’t you think?!?

The 85 minute project is setup by Image Entertainment, which expects to release the flick domestically sometime next spring.
