A couple weeks back we gave you all a glimpse into what the new Ubisoft videogame for James Cameron’s upcoming AVATAR looks like. It was a cool behind the scenes examination of the intentions behind the game, how they were achieved, and from Cameron’s lips himself, how exciting it is to be involved with a videogame from the inception of the film on which it is based.
Well, thanks to those over at MakingOf.com, we have even more for you to sink your teeth into. While Cameron is absent this time around, we do have a panel of distinguished professionals in the gaming world who offer a different kind of insight to the AVATAR videogame, including MakingOf co-founder and CEO Christine Aylward, Nathan Gunn, CEO of Social Game Universe, as well as Kevin Shortt – who proved highly integral to the production of the game, assuming lead-script writing and story-design duties. It’s his testimony that frankly proves most compelling!
In the video we learn a bunch of cool nuggets, like how the script for the game was some 900 pages, 9 fold that of the film’s screenplay. How the events in the game take place 2 years prior to the events seen in the film. How the game will feature two playable narratives. How Cameron left nothing to the imagination or query, as he gave Kevin Shortt reams full of material to work with, including a whole glossary of “Navi” speak, the indigenous language of Pandora (the world the flick and game take place in).
There’s even a pretty killer tidbit regarding Sigourney Weaver, but I’ll leave you to watch the video to suss that out.
The AVATAR videogame will be available this December, weeks before the release of the film (which fills seats December 18th).
