The Road delayed longer!

Well, in a bit of news about as surprising as Charlize Theron’s perpetual onscreen griminess, John Hillcoat’s adaptation of Cromac McCarthy’s novel THE ROAD has fell victim to yet another release date pushback.

The post-apocalyptic tale of a father-and-son wandering through an ashen wasteland, doing all they can to ensure survival, has suffered yet another theatrical delay and won’t be seen now until November 25th, the day before Thanksgiving (pushed roughly 6 weeks back from its latest slate of October 16th date).

No telling if the Weinsteins are poised for end of year Oscar push, or if there’s still some minor editing details to iron out before the final cut is finished. But either way, after the Coen Brothers’ masterful adaptation of a McCarthy novel (NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN), and the ever-growing expectations THE ROAD has garnered as a result of multiple delays (almost a year), there’s no doubt big shoes to fill with this one. I’m still fixing to see it, though. How about you?

THE ROAD stars Viggo Mortensen, Charlize Theron, Garret Dillahunt, Guy Pearce, Robert Duvall, Molly Parker, Michelle K. Williams and Kodi Smit-McPhee.
