Perhaps leading the only other mega-horror franchise as successful (of late) as the SAW films, the brass behind the RESIDENT EVIL empire, despite awaiting a 4th entry next summer (RESIDENT EVIL: AFTERLIFE), is already ironing out plans to bring a 5th film to the big-screen.
According to Bloody-Disgusting, steps are in motion to sort of “reboot” the long lived action-horror universe in a project temporarily titled RESIDENT EVIL BEGINS. And while the franchise-star Milla Jovovich is becoming more and more expensive to retain (despite her marriage to director Paul W. S. Anderson), there’s no definitive answer yet as to whether she’ll be back for the 5th installment.
The new take is said to center on a covert paramilitary squad who, after a botched lab experiment, has to fend and fight off a malefic supercomputer and an army of rabid undead scientists. Don’t know about you, but I’d watch Milla Jovovich dry her hair, much less star in a motion picture. I’m in if she is!
