THE LOSERS go into battle!

When I hear about a movie called THE LOSERS, my mind goes to tales of sports teams made up of idiots overcoming the odds, or a quirky indie about a group of dorks in high-school…. overcoming the odds. Something I certainly don’t envision is a high-tech action extravaganza in the MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE mold, but that is what THE LOSERS is; and only recently have I been made aware of it. THE LOSERS went into principal photography last week, under the watchful eye of legendary producer Joel Silver and his Dark Castle productions.
The cast is pretty cool: Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Watchmen), Zoe Saldana (Star Trek), Chris Evans (Fantastic Four), Idris Elba (Obsessed, RocknRolla), Columbus Short (Stomp the Yard), Holt McCallany (Vantage Point), and Jason Patric (In the Valley of Elah). It’s from director Silvain White, who directed STOMP THE YARD, and was at one point attached to CASTLEVANIA.
So what is THE LOSERS about? An explosive tale of double cross and revenge, The Losers centers upon the members of an elite U.S. Special Forces unit sent into the Bolivian jungle on a search and destroy mission. The team—Clay (Morgan), Jensen (Evans), Roque (Elba), Pooch (Short) and Cougar (Jaenada)—find themselves the target of a lethal betrayal instigated from inside by a powerful enemy known only as Max (Patric). Presumed dead, the group makes plans to even the score when they’re joined by the mysterious Aisha (Saldana), a beautiful operative with her own agenda. Working together, they must remain deep undercover while tracking the heavily-guarded Max, a ruthless man bent on embroiling the world in a new high-tech global war.

Rain will AWAKEN THE DRAGON!
So it seems as though, even before his major unveiling to U.S. audiences, Korean superstar Rain already has his NINJA ASSASSIN follow-up planned. And it’s a big one. According to Latino Review, Rain will take the role of a villainous Shaolin monk who attempts to elude a lone FBI agent. Kurt Sutter (writer on the FX show “The Shield”) will write and direct.
In case you’re wondering, yes, this is a remake of ENTER THE DRAGON. You may be (or may not be) familiar with Rain from his turn in The Wachowski Brothers’ SPEED RACER.

LAW ABIDING CITIZEN trailer!
Here’s a pretty decent trailer for F. Gary Gray’s LAW ABIDING CITIZEN, starring Gerard Butler and Jamie Foxx. Law Abiding Citizen is a thriller about a brilliant sociopath who orchestrates a series of high-profile murders that grip the city of Philadelphia – all from inside his jail cell – and the prosecutor assigned to his case who realizes he is the only one who can end the reign of terror.
The film comes out in October. Butler just can’t help but be a badass, can he..?
