3D is the wave of the future, y’all, and if you’re not on board then you can go eff yourself… At least, that’s pretty much my take on the situation with Hollywood and it’s genre films nowadays, as every other new title announced seems to have “3D” attached to it. That would appear to be the case with UNDERWORLD, as ShockTillYouDrop has learned that Sony is moving forward with the surprisingly durable franchise, and will be adding 3D to the mix.
According to the site – and to BoxOfficeMojo – there’s a release date set for JANUARY 21, 2011. The last two UNDERWORLD flicks have opened on more or less the same weekend. The first film bowed in September of 2003.
The UNDERWORLD flicks have proven to be solid moneymakers; the three films have made almost $300 million worldwide theatrically combined, and even more on DVD. Considering they’ve all been made in the $35 million budget range, it’s safe to say that Sony views another entry as a solid investment… No cast or crew has been announced as of yet.
I think we can expect to see Rhona Mitra back…
