Eli Roth is Endangered

We’ve been hearing Eli Roth talk up his potential big-budget CLOVERFIELD-esque sci-fi action movie for quite a while now, but we’ve never really learned what it might be about, or even if Eli knows for sure. And while we’re still not much closer on either front, we at least now have a title for the project: ENDANGERED SPECIES.

That’s what Mr. Roth told Empire Online at the Cannes Film Festival, along with “I want to do a sci-fi movie, like, a $60m movie – something in that budget range – where I can really do lots of mass destruction and really destroy lots of shit!”

Hey, I can sympathize. Find me a geek out there who doesn’t want to do the same thing and I’ll show you someone who ought to turn in their vintage Darth Vader Carrying Case.

Also in the interview, Roth talks up his plans for THANKSGIVING, which is something I would actually be amped for. His mock-trailer for the film in GRINDHOUSE is probably my favorite part of the whole movie. (Except for the moment when Naveen Andrews’ head explodes.)

Check out Empire’s chat with Eli right HERE , and tell me: Do you want to see a big-budget sci-fi flick from Roth? Or should he stick to what he does best…?
