Minor, albeit encouraging, news regarding the Guillermo del Toro-produced remake of DON’T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK has been scooped by Fangoria: Mike Elizade, an Oscar-nominated effects artist on HELLBOY II, has been hired to work on the flick, along with his company Spectral Motion.
DON’T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK – which is a remake of a 1973 ABC movie – is about a young girl who’s sent to live with her father and his new girlfriend in their country home, only to discover there are sinister creatures living in the walls.
Comic writer Troy Nixey will be making his directorial debut on the film, using a screenplay written by del Toro and his MIMIC co-writer Matthew Robbins. Sounds like my kinda film, so hopefully now that it’s obviously in pre-production, more news will start flowing in.
Chances are he got his hands on Selma Blair…
