Remake of the Corn

I actually have no problem with a CHILDREN OF THE CORN remake – in theory – for a couple reasons: 1) the original is an irritating and silly movie, and 2) the Stephen King short story is quite creepy, and a decent flick could be made out of it. Donald P. Borchers agrees with me, since he’s directing the new one.

“Who the f*ck is Donald P. Borchers” you ask? He produced the 1984 film, which starred Peter Horton and Linda Hamilton, about a couple who wind up in the freaky town of Gatlin, which is run by a nasty little shit named Isaac and his clan of brooding adolescents.

Borchers has a ton of B-movies on his resume, as producer, including such classics as TUFF TURF, MEATBALLS 4, DOPPELGANGER, and LEPRECHAUN 2. His CHILDREN remake will fit right in, as it’s being made not for theatrical distribution, but for the Sci-Fi Channel…

According to Bloody Disgusting, the story is set in the 1970s, which makes this a bit more intriguing… Can we expect 6 or 7 sequels to THIS incarnation..?

Believe it or not, Naomi Watts was the lead in CHILDREN OF THE CORN IV… Bet she wouldn’t mind having that little nugget erased from her filmography…
