ALIEN VS. PREDATOR is a movie that fills me with true rage. I lost significant hope for it when Paul W.S. Anderson’s name became attached, but there was always the possibility that it would be halfway fun, or at the very least, mildly watchable and uninsulting. Boy was I in for a surprise. No need for me to vent hysterically as to why I find it to be such an abysmal atrocity – a war crime, really. I’m sure many of you feel the same way.
But it did well enough to warrant a sequel ($171 mil worldwide) and in Hollywood there’s absolutely no argument as to whether or not such a thing should happen. So AVP2 is invading theaters later this year, and from what I know about it, the two adversaries will duke it out in a small town somewhere in the U.S. I always thought an “Alien” movie on Earth would be awesome, but let’s just say I’ll be keeping a very modest anticipation level for this one.
Enough ranting, the whole point of this is that there’s an interview with one of the film’s art directors, Andrew Li, over at Alien Experience. Among other things, it’s revealed that we can expect a “Predator hunting Aliens in a sewer” sequence,
many glimpses of a Predator spacecraft, and an important scene inside an old mental hospital. For the most part he talks about working with the production designer and the directors, The Brothers Strause. For the entire interview, click it HERE.
