This is complete news to me, but apparently the film adaptation of writer Chuck Palahniuk’s infamous CHOKE is heavily into pre-production now, and will go before cameras June 18. Sam Rockwell will star as Victor Mancini, a sex-addicted con artist who’s main occupation is pretending to choke in restaurants and have people save him. Their sympathy for him prompts them to send him checks, which he uses to pay for his sickly mother. Suffice it to say, this guy has a mountain of issues…
I haven’t read CHOKE but I’ve read a couple of Palahniuk’s works (FIGHT CLUB, HAUNTED) and he’s a disturbed individual with a fairly vivid imagination to say the least. CHOKE is supposedly incredibly explicit and depraved, so I it’s no shock that he wrote it (can we pray for a NC-17 rating?).
Clark Gregg, who wrote the screenplay for Robert Zemeckis’s WHAT LIES BENEATH will be directing.
Have any of you read CHOKE? Spit some bullets and tell us if you liked it, or how it made you curse rabidly and throw it across the room.
