Wahlberg vs A tree!

Today 20th Century Fox confirmed that Mark Wahlberg will be
starring in M. Night Shyamalan’s THE HAPPENING, and to tell you the truth
I couldn’t be happier.

There’s a few reasons that I’m
pumped about this. For one I love Shyamalan’s work, and I mean everything
including
LADY IN THE WATER
and

THE VILLAGE
. And the fact that he’s found a new production company
(Fox) and this film will actually be made now with Mark Wahlberg at the helm has
me pretty stoked.

And secondly, this latest addition
to Shymalan’s catalogue is rumored to be heading towards an ‘R’ rating,
something that he couldn’t really do before because of his involvement with
Disney, and I think it’ll give him all the freedom he needs to do more with his
thriller-esque film style.

The film itself will be a
post-apocalyptic feature starring Wahlberg as a science
teacher named Elliot Moore who takes his family on the run when the world turns
upside down and a cataclysmic natural crisis threatens to end the world.

Shooting is scheduled to start in August somewhere around the Philadelphia area
and is looking for a release date of  Friday, June 13, 2008.
