GB game on!?

What? No Ernie Hudson?

Going along with what Arrow touched on yesterday, it seems that Dan Aykroyd isn’t just involved with getting GHOSTBUSTERS III off the ground.

In an interview with the Edmonton Journal (which was snagged by IGN.com), Aykroyd revealed that Universal had purchased the rights from Sony Pictures to do a videogame based on the films, which he said he’d be doing some mo-cap stuff for said game, which would be released next year. Sweetness!

Now, for those who’ve been keeping an eye on Youtube, there’s been leaked footage of a GHOSTBUSTERS-esque game that’s been popping up. However, this is not from Universal or Sony. The footage happens to be from Slovenian game developer ZootFly, who have had trouble snagging the rights to the franchise, but had gone ahead and began developing a game that was ‘GHOSTBUSTERS-inspired’. That was until the project unfortunately had to be put on hold for obvious reasons (check out the leaked footage here and here).

With the deal in place between Universal and Sony, obviously there’s some interesting questions to this whole thing. Will Vivendi (Uni’s game development arm) be creating their own game? Will Uni take what ZootFly have done and finish it on their own, or buy what ZootFly has done? It’s enough to make any GB fan go crazy!
