Johnny Butane over at Dread Central dropped us a line to let us know about the status of founder and former editor-in-chief of Rue Morgue Magazine, Rodrigo Gudino, who left his post at the magazine to write and direct films, which is what he’s done with his first short, THE EYES OF EDWARD JAMES.
The short is not only completed but has also been accepted as part of the final list of 38 shorts (there were 560 entered) set to make their premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival set for September 7th-16th. Starring Richard Underhill, Tal Zimmerman, Shala Kareen-Palmer, and Robert C. Fidler, the story for the film focusses on a patient (the titular character) whose doctor regresses him into the traumatic memory of the evening said patient’s wife was brutally murdered. As more of the truth is revealed, James’ doctor begins to question if James is being entirely honest with him, in much the same way James’ wife wasn’t as honest as she let on.
