My Dentist’s Murder Trial: David Harbour and Pedro Pascal to star in HBO’s true crime limited series

My Dentist's Murder Trial, Pedro Pascal, David Harbour, HBO, limited series

Open wide because HBO is developing My Dentist’s Murder Trial, a limited series starring and executive produced by David Harbour (Stranger ThingsBlack Widow) and Pedro Pascal (The MandalorianThe Last of Us).

Written by Steve Conrad (Patriot), who is also directing the pilot episode, My Dentist’s Murder Trial is inspired by James Lasdun’s 2017 New Yorker article “My Dentist’s Murder Trial: Adultery, false identities, and a lethal sedation.” According to Deadline, the true crime story chronicled in the article centers on Dr. Gilberto Nunez, who in 2015 was indicted for killing his friend Thomas Kolman by getting him “to ingest a substance that caused his death.” There were also two forgery counts, including Nunez posing as a C.I.A. agent. Nunez, who had had an affair with Kolman’s wife Linda, stood trial in 2018, where he was found not guilty of murder but fraud charges, leading to a prison sentence.

Pascal will play Dr. Nunez. Meanwhile, HBO won’t open its mouth to say who Harbour will play. He could play the victim, Thomas Holman, or the article’s author, Lasdun, whose long-time family dentist was Nunez.

Conrad, Harbour and Pascal executive produce with Bruce Terris, Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch for Escape Artists, as well as Molly Allen, MGM Television, and James Lasdun. Escape Artists’ Taylor Latham co-executive produces.

Ugh! I can’t stand the dentist and don’t know how I feel about Pascal, an actor I adore, playing this nightmare role. I would have to be hopped up on nitrous to watch this comfortably, and I doubt HBO will cover the extra cost.

What do you think about HBO’s My Dentist’s Murder Trial? Who do you believe Harbour will wind up playing in the limited series? What are some of your most horrific dentist-related stories? Feel free to let us know in the comments section below.
