Confession time. I’ve never seen any episodes of All That or Kenan & Kel, and perhaps more damning in some people’s eyes, I’ve also never seen Good Burger. This probably makes me the worst person to write an article about Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell reuniting at last night’s Emmys.

Kenan Thompson hosted the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards, and during a skit set at the bar (tended by Kumail Nanjiani), he came face-to-face with his old pal.

Excuse me, sir,” Thompson said to a patron with his head buried on the counter, “can we get you a drink or something?” The man lifted his head, saying, “You know what… can I get a Good Burger?” And there was much rejoicing. Kenan Thompson also posted a picture of his Good Burger reunion with Kel Mitchell at the Emmys on his own Twitter.

From what I understand, rumours about Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell drifting apart started to emerge when they both auditioned for Saturday Night Live in 2003. While Kenan Thompson obviously got the gig, Mitchell’s audition was reportedly a disaster. Mitchell has denied rumours the SNL gig caused a rift between them, saying that he “loves Kenan, and I love watching him on [SNL]. We talk all the time. It’s more about us both being dads now and talking about the kids and things like that.

Kenan Thompson has spoken of a possible Good Burger sequel from time to time. While speaking with Jimmy Fallon earlier this summer, Thompson said they were “working harder on it than ever.” When asked where their Good Burger characters would be 25 years later, Thompson said, “I feel like Ed (Mitchell) should have, like, a million kids. And then Dexter (Thompson) is coming out of jail for something that [Ed] put [him] in jail for.
