The Dungeons & Dragons series is gaining another party member in Drew Crevello (WeCrashed) as the showrunner of the live-action adaptation for Paramount+. Crevello will work closely with Rawson Marshall Thurber (We’re the MillersSkyscraperCentral Intelligence), who wrote the pilot script and will direct the first episode. The eight-episode series is a co-production between eOne and Paramount Pictures, with eOne leading the charge.

According to Deadline’s previous report, “Adapting Dungeons & Dragons for television has been a major focus for eOne under President of Global Television Michael Lombardo following the company’s 2019 acquisition by Hasbro. The live-action series has been tipped to be the studio’s largest-scope TV project ever, potentially launching a Dungeons & Dragons universe spanning multiple scripted and unscripted shows.”

Deadline would also like to remind us that Dungeons & Dragons is “a fantasy role-playing game franchise. Featuring humans, elves, orcs, and other fantastical creatures engaging in wars, treasure hunts, and campaigns, the D&D game, one of Hasbro’s key franchise brands hailing from Wizards of the Coast, is overseen by a host known as the Dungeon Master, and employs a signature multisided dice. More than 50 million fans have played D&D since it was launched 49 years ago, including video games and livestream entertainment on Twitch and YouTube.”

Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley direct the critically-acclaimed Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves movie from a script they crafted with Michael Gilio (who shares story credit with The Tomorrow War and Renfield director Chris McKay). Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves follows a charming thief and a band of unlikely adventurers as they embark on an epic quest to retrieve a lost relic. Things go dangerously awry when they run afoul of the wrong people.

The film stars Chris Pine as The Bard Edgin, Michelle Rodriguez as The Barbarian Holga, Justice Smith as The Sorcerer Simon, Sophia Lillis as The Druid Doric, Regé-Jean Page as The Paladin Xenk, Hugh Grant as The Rogue Forge, and Daisy Head as the Wizard Sofina. Chloe Coleman and Jason Wong are also in the cast.

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves was produced by Jeremy Latcham, Brian Goldner, and Nick Meyer, with Goldstein, Daley, and Pine serving as executive producers alongside Denis L. Stewart, Zev Foreman, and Greg Mooradian.
