Godzilla vs. Kong keeps stomping the weekend box office!

Big monsters are still swinging!

The legendary battling behemoths continued throwing hairy punches and blasting atomic breath for a third weekend as GODZILLA VS. KONG remained on top at the box office with an estimated $7.7 million!

The king-sized smackdown sequel directed by Adam Wingard (THE GUEST, YOU'RE NEXT) has pounded its way to a domestic total of $80.5 million since it first hit theaters on March 31st (the same day it also became available on HBO Max).

The $200 million Warner Bros. monster mash, also featuring humans like Alexander Skarsgard, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall and Brian Tyree Henry, has rumbled to a worldwide total of $390.2 million.

The rest of the chart didn't feature much activity, with the R-rated thriller NOBODY again in second place over its fourth weekend with $2.5 million, barely dipping from last week's figure. The $16 million action movie with Bob Odenkerk ("Better Call Saul") now has a domestic total of $19 million and $34.5 million worldwide.

Still in third place was the supernatural thriller THE UNHOLY with $2.06 million on its third weekend. The PG-13 horror movie produced by Sam Raimi has a domestic total of $9.56 million.

RAYA AND THE LAST DRAGON was in fourth place once more with $1.9 million, taking the PG-rated Disney animated fantasy to a domestic total of $37.6 million and just short of $100 million worldwide after seven weeks.

The PG-rated animated/live-action comedy TOM & JERRY was in fifth place with $1.09 million. After eight weekends, the Warner Bros. release has a domestic total of $42.5 million and $105.3 million, on a reported cost of $79 million.

In sixth place was the sci-fi drama VOYAGERS with $790,000, a loss of 43% from its opening last weekend. Director Neil Burger's PG-13 space thriller with Tye Sheridan, Lily-Rose Depp and Colin Farrell has a ten-day domestic total of $2.55 million on a reported $29 million cost.

The faith-based Mira Sorvino drama THE GIRL WHO BELIEVES IN MIRACLES held in seventh place with $591,000, nearly on par with last week's take to give it a ten-day domestic total of $1.8 million after three weekends.

In eighth place was the new horror movie IN THE EARTH with an opening of $506,000 for the weekend on 547 screens.

Directed by Ben Wheatley (HIGH-RISE, FREE FIRE) and filmed during the pandemic lockdown, the topical R-rated thriller follows a group of people searching for a cure to a deadly virus.

Critics were divided on the hallucinogenic low-budget terror, giving the movie an average of 75% on Rotten Tomatoes and a Metacritic score of 60. Creep on over to the JoBlo review HERE.

The Benedict Cumberbatch spy drama THE COURIER was in ninth place with $462,000, a slight boost over last week. After five weekends, the PG-13 period thriller has a domestic total of $5.4 million.

At the bottom, the animated DreamWorks sequel THE CROODS: A NEW AGE popped back up into tenth with $310,000 on its 21st weekend in release. The PG-rated Universal movie has a domestic total of $57.1 million and $163 million worldwide on a reported cost of $65 million.

Next weekend has brutal fisticuffs and gory fatalities as MORTAL KOMBAT simultaneously hits theaters and HBO Max. The R-rated videogame adaptation has already collected $19.2 million from international audiences.
