Last year, we reported that District 9 (watch it HERE) filmmaker Neill Blomkamp was teaming with AGC Studios for a horror-thriller called Inferno, which was set to star Taylor Kitsch and was supposed to go into production in 2020. But when the pandemic hit, Blomkamp and AGC shifted gears, focusing on getting a "more nimble production" off the ground in 2020 and pushing the filming of Inferno into 2021.
With AGC's backing, Blomkamp spent the summer in British Columbia, shooting a top secret project in "the wilds of Canada's westernmost province". We don't know what the title of this project was, we don't know any plot details, but Deadline hears that it's a supernatural horror movie and "something the filmmaker had always wanted to make".
Apparently there's a "strong sci-fi and VFX component" to the film, and post-production is expected to be completed by next spring. The cast consisted primarily of Canadian actors – but none of their names have been revealed, either.
So all we know is that Blomkamp spent the summer making a supernatural horror movie… and that's enough information to get me excited to see what exactly this movie is.
