We love Nicolas Cage in this house, and two of the actor’s most iconic films are set to be released on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray for the first time ever: National Treasure and Con Air. Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has announced that both films will be released on November 10. Nothing like a little Cage just in time for the holidays.
Also, a couple of other action-hero classics on 4K were announced earlier today, with Bruce Willis’ Mercury Rising and The Jackal set for release in early 2027. Maybe physical media isn’t dying.
National Treasure and Con Air on 4K
The press release states that National Treasure and Con Air have both been restored in “stunning 4K, Dolby Atmos, and Dolby Vision.” Con Air has previously been available on 4K HD Digital, but this will be its first physical release on the format.
National Treasure will be released as a collectible SteelBook 4K UHD and will include 4K UHD bonus feature commentary with director John Turtletaub and actor Justin Bartha. Con Air will debut in a limited-edition 4K UHD SteelBook release that includes the 4K UHD, a Blu-ray disc with bonus features ‘A View from Above’ and ‘The Destruction of Las Vegas,’ and a digital code

National Treasure 3
Although the chance of Con Air 2 is slim, there will be another National Treasure movie. Director Jon Turteltaub confirmed the long-awaited sequel just last month, saying that Cage would return as Benjamin Gates in National Treasure 3 and that Disney has already signed off on a script.
“It’s finally real. Now, it’s Hollywood real, meaning things could happen,” Turtletaub said. “Nic gets hit by a bus, there’s no National Treasure 3. If I get hit by a bus, there’s probably a National Treasure 3. Welcome to Hollywood.“
The first film has already spawned one sequel, National Treasure: Book of Secrets, as well as a Disney+ TV series, National Treasure: Edge of History, which didn’t feature Cage and was cancelled after one season.
