A new and intense trailer for The Lost City of Z has been discovered

The exploration of uncharted territory is a hell of a thing. You can research the living daylights out of your journey to the unknown locale, but once you’ve arrived, there’s no telling what manner of danger and delights await you. Honestly, I’ve never fancied myself as the Indiana Jones type. Nah, I’d rather remain in the comfort of my own home, snuggled up to a can of Red Bull and raiding me some tombs as my favorite fictional explorer, Lara Croft.

Today, a new trailer for director James Gray’s THE LOST CITY OF Z has been uncovered, and it reveals a fair amount of insight into the true-life excursion of Col. Percival Fawcett’s (Charlie Hunnam) odyssey into the Amazon, where the famous explorer hopes to discover a storied and peculiar city. The film, based on the best-selling novel “The Lost City of Z: A Tale of Deadly Obsession in the Amazon documents Fawcett’s fanatical behavior in the time leading up to his journey, and ultimately, his disappearance in the year 1925.

As you can see from watching the trailer below, Charlie Hunnam (and his twisty mustache), look to be pouring it on pretty thick for this performance. Though I suppose you would have to be a rather intense individual if you were looking to stick your curiosity in a place where it doesn't belong.

I don’t know. I must admit that I’m not really feeling this one. I don’t know if it’s the bloated dialogue, the curiously dark cinematography, or simply that the story doesn’t interest me – but unless I hear otherwise, THE LOST CITY OF Z will be a hard pass for me. Personally, I’ve got a bit of a gripe on for people who invade the lands of others, looking to poke and prod into a foreign culture in the name of discovery, or science, or whatever. Some places and people would rather remain their own thing, and I can respect that.

Co-starring with Charlie Hunnam on this exodus into the unknown are actors Sienna Miller, Robert Pattinson, Angus Macfadyen, and the up-and-coming Tom Holland. The film will hit North American shores on April 14th, 2017.
