A trio of actors from The Raid 2 reportedly join Star Wars Episode VII

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

STAR WARS: EPISODE VII – THE FORCE AWAKENS just got a little more practical thanks to the inclusion of some talented martial artists. Despite filming having wrapped, we have now learned that J.J. Abrams hotly anticipated sequel to George Lucas‘ series has added actors Iko Uwais, Yayan Ruhian and Cecep Arif Rahman to the roster of talent. If these names don’t ring a bell, maybe their amazing fight scenes in THE RAID 2.

Twitch reported on the casting which also included a fourth member of THE RAID 2 cast who remains nameless. Who these actors are playing in STAR WARS: EPISODE VII – THE FORCE AWAKENS is unknown. They could be Jedi, aliens, stormtroopers, or any number of new characters. This definitely reinforces the commitment to practical filming as these guys proved in THE RAID 2 that they can make choreographed fight scenes look more stunning than any CGI creation.

As we get closer, bit by bit, to eventually seeing STAR WARS: EPISODE VII – THE FORCE AWAKENS, we are learning more and more about the film that excites us to see what is coming our way this Christmas. THE RAID 2 made a ton of movie fans happy and director Gareth Evans‘ name has been touted as someone who should direct a film in the new Disney slate of films. While Evans’ involvement is yet to be determined, this is the next best bit of news. Hopefully this is more than just a cameo.

STAR WARS: EPISODE VII – THE FORCE AWAKENS hits theaters on December 18, 2015.
